As a company, we strive to exceed your expectations on how your service is handled from start to finish. We begin by being easy to deal with, friendly, honest and caring about what is in the best interest of you and your family. We can handle any job, big or small! Locally owned and operated since 1979, we know that our friends (clients) are our most valuable asset and we work hard to build an outstanding relationship where we are the ones to answer any plumbing or heating questions. That’s why we are “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Plumber!”

  • 1979

    Vern and Linda Shoemaker start their family business on April 1st, 1979. They worked out of the garage of their home.

  • Richfield specialized in commercial plumbing but by the late 80s, Richfield began to work on residential properties as well.

    1980s

  • 1986

    Richfield’s first in-floor heating project is completed.

  • Plumbing in custom homes and large renovations becomes Richfield’s specialty and they begin working for many of the best builders in Edmonton.

    1990s

  • 2003

    Dan joined the family business. He worked along side his father installing in-floor heating and learning the plumbing trade.

  • Dan is recognized as a top apprentice in Alberta and becomes a Journeyman in 2007.

    2006

  • 2010

    Richfield moved to the Strathcona Business Park and Dan is made part owner.

  • Andrew Bailey is hired as a 1st year apprentice.  Andrew worked for Richfield for 11 years, becoming a Journeyman plumber and eventually the Construction Manager.

    2011

  • 2012

    Richfield is doing mostly construction jobs but they hired their first full-time service technician to help existing customers. Jared Pickles is hired as a 2nd year apprentice.  Jared worked for Richfield for 10 years, became a Journeyman plumber and eventually the Service Manager.

  • Vern partially retires from day to day operations but is still majority owner.

    2013

  • 2016

    Richfield Plumbing moved to its current location at 8740 51 avenue and Dan became 100% owner of Richfield Plumbing & Heating Ltd.

  • Richfield implemented major service procedures from top to bottom to improve the customer experience such as StraightForward Pricing and complimentary full home mechanical inspections.

    2017

  • 2017

    Vern retires officially and works part-time and as a consultant.

  • Infamous giant toilet photo booth is built!
